Wood lands $11 million TotalEnergies contract to support Ratawi field redevelopment in Iraq

April 21, 2025

(WO) 鈥 Wood has secured two engineering and procurement framework agreements worth $11 million from TotalEnergies EP Ratawi Hub to support redevelopment work at Iraq鈥檚 Ratawi oil field.

The contracts are part of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP), a multi-energy initiative aimed at improving Iraq鈥檚 natural gas production and electricity supply. Under the three-year agreements, Wood will help advance the Associated Gas Upstream Project (AGUP), a key component of GGIP that involves debottlenecking and upgrading existing facilities.

The upgrades are designed to raise production capacity at Ratawi to 120,000 barrels of oil per day upon completion of the first phase.

鈥淲e have an extensive track record in brownfield facility modifications and are committed to delivering safe, quality and innovative outcomes for TotalEnergies,鈥 said Shaun Dewar, senior vice president of operations for the Middle East and Africa at Wood. 鈥淲ood has supported the Ratawi field since 2023.鈥

As part of the expansion effort, Wood has hired 70 Iraqi workers across various disciplines, including health, safety and environment (HSE), logistics, quality, construction, welding, electrical, and document control. Six recruitment events were held to support staffing at the Ratawi operations hub.

The contract scopes will be delivered by Wood teams based in Basra and the United Arab Emirates. Additional job opportunities are expected as work progresses. Wood currently employs more than 4,000 people across the Middle East, having grown its regional headcount by 500 in 2024.

Wood is already providing engineering design, procurement support, and construction and commissioning assistance for the AGUP鈥檚 first phase.
