LAGCOE 2015

• Celebrating 60 years
• Keynote speakers from Chesapeake Energy and Frank’s International
• Featuring the 2015 New Technology Showcase and the Energy Innovators Pitch Challenge

One of the larger petroleum industry conferences and exhibitions in the U.S., the Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Exposition (LAGCOE) will celebrate 60 years during Oct. 27-29. Once again, the three-day biennial event will take place at the Cajundome & Convention Center in Lafayette, La. It drew more than 17,000 attendees in 2013. Once again, admission to the 2015 show is free, but limited to industry personnel.

With a wide range of exhibits and technical sessions, more than 430 exhibiting companies will showcase leading equipment, services and technologies from around the world. These companies and professionals are coming together to examine a common theme within the industry, which continues to increase industry productivity throughout the world: global collaboration and local resources.

The event kicks off with a preview party Monday evening, where industry professionals will enjoy Louisiana cuisine and music, while getting a sneak peek at this year’s exhibits. Leon Charles Moncla, Jr., 2015’s “LAGCOE Looey,” will then serve as the goodwill ambassador and ceremonial host of the event, greeting participants and attendees at the door. Moncla, who is the 35th honoree to sport the signature LAGCOE Looey hardhat, was selected in recognition of his more than 45 years of service in the oil and gas industry.

TECHNICAL/INTERNATIONAL PRESENTATIONS

This year’s conference will feature a variety of keynote, technical and international presentations. Chesapeake Energy President, CEO and Director Doug Lawler will be one of two featured keynote speakers. Lawler, who served previously as senior V.P. of international and deepwater operations at Anadarko Petroleum Corp., will deliver the opening keynote address. Gary Luquette, president and CEO of Frank’s International LLC, will be featured on the second day of the conference. Luquette, who worked for Chevron since 1978, had served as president of Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company before joining Frank’s International in January 2015.

Seven new technologies will be showcased as the winners of the 2015 New Technology Showcase. Each company, recognized for its best forward-thinking solutions, will present a 10-min. overview of its new innovations.��

The winners are:

Technical presentations will be delivered by leaders in the onshore and offshore oil and gas E&P industry, including Cheniere Energy, LLOG and Oceaneering. Topics among these technical presentations include the Delta House development in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico; LNG and the American energy landscape; Oil Well Lien act; digital oil field; and more.

International presentations on global opportunities from Colombia, Mexico, Ukraine and Saudi Arabia will take place throughout the course of the conference. One session will cover the keys to conducting business internationally. These presentations will be given by representatives from firms including Aramco Services Company, Chevron, PEMEX, Saudi Aramco and Superior. Export counseling and business-to-business meetings also will take place during the conference, as well as the LAGCOE International Reception, which offers productive networking between international attendees and U.S. exporting companies.

YOUNG & INNOVATIVE PROFESSIONALS

This year’s exposition will feature the Energy Innovators Pitch Challenge, a new event connecting the best emerging energy innovators who are ready to move their business ideas forward. Challenge winners will be showcased at The Energy Innovators tent, with a culminating “Shark Tank” pitch event. Selected candidates will then be given three minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of accredited investors, following a three-minute Q&A in front of a live audience. The best presentation will receive an award and possible funding to develop that idea.

Also new this year, LAGCOE Oilfield Alumni will be organizing customized tours of the exhibits for groups of company employees. This committee of professionals will guide employees, allowing them to see and better understand equipment and services within the industry.

A highlight of this year’s conference, the Young Professionals of LAGCOE (YPL), is a group of young volunteers with a desire to take action and see the industry progress. The group began with a goal to eventually take over LAGCOE events, and to represent the interests of the oil and gas industry. It is intended to serve as a recruitment tool to feed young professionals into the LAGCOE committees that help build the show. YPL members’ chief mission is to become ambassadors for the LAGCOE Education Fund, a fund at Community Foundation of Acadiana, by volunteering their time and talent.

One duty of YPL volunteers is to participate in the Future Energy Professionals Tour of LAGCOE, a program established to encourage students to pursue technical positions within the oil and gas industry. Guided by YPL volunteers and University of Louisiana at Lafayette engineering ambassadors, high school students are given a tour of the exposition for a more hands-on experience.

These aren’t the only events aiding in the support of a growing industry. The Mentor Program Luncheon and the LAGCOE Career Fair also will be arranged to help young professionals interested in developing productive relationships, engaging in positive networks and building leadership skills. The Career Fair will be organized to support energy professionals in transition, and aid professionals as they seek employment.
