(WO) – ECOPETROL Group recognized ROSEN as an Iconic Supplier with Inclusive and Sustainable Energy by awarding the company the second place in the Innovation and Technology category.

ECOPETROL, the main and largest oil company in Colombia, awards this recognition to highlight the suppliers that leverage the sustainable development of nations with the design of innovative products or services and outstanding practices in environmental protection.

ROSEN stands for innovative and reliable technologies

ROSEN has developed a tailored solution including high-resolution MFL-A ULTRA (magnetic flux leakage with ULTRA-high resolution) technology in a bidirectional configuration – a solution never applied in this form before. The service was done at the 42” loading line at the Coveñas terminal for a subsidiary of ECOPETROL GROUP. The pipeline presented a number of challenges, preventing an inspection using traditional methods.

Due to its complexity, ROSEN’s Challenging Pipeline Diagnostics Division took the lead on this inspection. Udo Rühle, the leading Project Manager, explained, “The contract was signed based on an idea because, as with most unpiggable pipelines, there were no ready-to-go solutions available. Therefore, getting the tool designed, manufactured, assembled, tested and signed off was a big challenge. The team worked great together to pull it off and get the solution delivered in time.”

The unique solution successfully inspected this so-called “unpiggable” pipeline, providing the operator with valuable data on the integrity of the asset to help enable its safe future operation.
